“What I Learned This Week” is a recurring, weekly post about various things I encountered during the week either online or in the real world.

Happy Friday everyone. Let’s jump right in, shall we?

1) I learned that John Barrowman is saying that he WILL NOT be returning the CW’s ‘Arrowverse’ next season. I’ve enjoyed John’s work since he showed up on “Doctor Who”, but I never got into watching “Arrow.” I was thrilled that he was working on what seemed like such a popular show, and I hope he continues to do more work that we can enjoy.

2) Sometimes it is hard to remember major events that happen around you, unless they directly impact you in some way.
As of April 29, it has been 25 years since the Los Angeles riots, or as they were more commonly called, the Rodney King riots. I was just finishing my first year in high school when this happened. But, now, with all this talk about looking back, I can tell you that I don’t remember much. Sure, I remember what happened, and what set the riots off, but I can’t tell you that I was particularly affected by it. It was in South LA, where I would ironically end up living 20 years later with my wife. But, at the time, I was still at home, in a suburb 30 miles east of it. It didn’t seem to have much bearing on my life at the time. I was in high school, that was enough for me to deal with at the time. But, reading through these retrospectives really helps me understand now, what I was ignorant to back then.
3) Robin Williams’ voice is heard in what is considered his last role, and the film is coming to the U.S. this summer.
4) The FOX series “Pitch” has been canceled after just one season. It was a good premise, with what I thought was a strong cast. The wife and I enjoyed it, and looked forward to it each week a new episode showed up on our DVR. Oh well.
5) The Netflix series “House of Cards” returns May 30!!
That’s what I learned this week, what did you learn?
