I wouldn’t blame you if you said, “No.” It is a new series on FreeForm (the cable channel formerly known as ABC Family). The are airing the episodes weekly (Monday’s at 9:00pm, check your local listings to confirm), but they’ve also made the entire first season available to watch at once via their FreeForm app or website. That, my friends, is what sold me.

I can’t recall how I saw a preview of this show, to know that it was coming on at the beginning of January, but I do remember being interested in the premise. Basically, there is this kid who goes into a coma for like 12 years and then wakes up. He goes to sleep a 13 year old kid, and wakes up a 25 year old man. Well, a 13 year old kid in a 25 year old man’s body. Anyway, the preview I saw made it seem like the coma was the side effect of some kind of interaction he had with aliens. Again, that is what I got from the preview.
It could not be further from the truth. At least, as far as I know right now. The idea behind the story is intriguing, and I can really appreciate it. The story lines about the relationships this kid is now having to navigate and deal with are also interesting. I feel like there has been so much packed into just the first 5 episodes, that I am hooked and need to know what happens next.
At first, I was hesitant to get involved in another show that I would have to make time to watch. But, the bonus feature of being able to binge the episodes via the app or online is what sold me. I’ve enjoyed every episode thus far and look forward to season two already, and I haven’t even finished season one.
It was announced on January 10 that Freeform picked it up for another season. Good job guys!
If you’re interested in checking it out, I would recommend the app or website to start streaming some episodes. Alternatively, you can check to see if you get the channel with your local provider and start watching. I’m sure there will be reruns of the season at some point.
